It’s freaky to think that some people actually crave the flavor of human flesh between their teeth. But 58-year-old nurse Dale Bolinger, of Canterbury, England, is not just anyone. He was convicted on Monday of sexually grooming a 14-year-old Mexican girl, with the alleged plan to kill and eat her.

Bolinger was found guilty of attempting to woo the girl, named “Eva,” in a chat room on the fetish website Dark Fetish Network (DFN) in 2012. His profile, which was listed under the name Chris C with a photo of Naomi Campbell, included under his interests, “cannibalism, mainly the hunting and preparation of young but sometimes not so young women.”

After chatting with Eva for some time — he said things like, “The idea of us making love, and then eating you is a VERY great turn on!” — the two planned a meeting at Ashford International railway station, where she was expected to arrive from Germany, the BBC reported. She never arrived. But Bolinger, ready and willing to meet Eva, had already bought an axe the day before, believing her when she told him that she wanted to be beheaded, according to Kent Online.

Police first found out about Bolinger’s fantasies from the FBI in New York, who had discovered the nurse’s other chats on the website. In these ones, he claimed that he’d already eaten a 39-year-old woman and a 5-year-old child. Police were able to trace his email address, meatmarketman@rocketmail.com, to his hometown, where police arrested him at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. Following his arrest, they found altered photos in his home portraying children in cannibalistic situations. One of them, for example, showed a young girl laying on a plate with an apple in her mouth. What’s more, each one had a strange title such as “Dinner” and “The BBQ.”

Despite telling police when they first arrested him that he had an interest in cannibalism since being a child, Bolinger still argued that his whole reason for being on DFN was to shock its other users. He even said that, all along, he thought he was talking to a man and not a child. Either way, jurors found him guilty. His sentencing will come on Sept. 19 after a pre-sentence report and psychiatric evaluation, which is supposed to “assess the level of risk the defendant poses to the public.”

Bolinger also told police that he doesn’t find children sexually attractive, “but I do find them interesting as a food source.” Yet, it turns out that if he were to actually eat someone, he wouldn’t be getting much else but a whole lot of calories, protein from muscles, and fat. Doesn’t seem like much of a nutritional food source at all.
