Lush, full lips might have been popular in recent years, but in 2017, it’s all about lip reductions. New Beauty reported the trend is mostly popular in Asia and has been showing up all over Instagram. They spoke to New York dermatologist Dr. Doris Day M.D., who said the procedure is mostly requested by younger people in their 20s and 30s. “The procedure involves surgically cutting at the wet-dry line and pulling the lip underneath inside the mouth to reduce overall size,” she told the magazine. Dr. Nuttae Nuttapon, a dermatologist in Thailand, told the magazine it was a huge trend five to 10 years ago but is still popular as his Asian clients try to mimic the thinner lips found in western cultures.
Lips may be getting smaller, but butts and breasts are getting bigger with the help of fat grafting. “Plastic surgeons harvest a patient's unwanted fat from their abdomen using liposuction and then inject it to lift and rejuvenate other areas such as the face, buttock and even the breast," said Debra Johnson, MD, in a statement. "Because the material injected is the patient's own fat the results typically last longer than fillers."
Labiaplasty, which reduces the size of vaginal lips, is also seeing a boost in popularity. The procedure increased 39 percent in 2016 as more than 12,000 procedures were performed.
