Giuliana Rancic Recovering After Surgery
E! News Host Giuliana Rancic is recovering following double lumpectomy surgery to remove cancerous growth in her breast, her husband told the 'Today' show.
Rancic had growths removed from both breasts Tuesday. Doctors also removed lymph nodes that may have been affected by the cancer.
The 37-year-old celebrity news reporter announced Monday she was battling breast cancer. The cancer was discovered in its early stage. She said the cancer was detected by a mammogram her fertility doctor ordered as Rancic is undergoing invitro fertilization.
“Giuliana is a trooper. She pulled through it,” said Bill Rancic, her husband. “She’s relieved to ahave it over with and get the cancer out. She’s doing well at home and recovering – and I’m adding nurse to my resume. She’s having fun with that.”
Rancic is expected to start six weeks of radiation therapy soon, her husband added.
If Rancic is looking for support in her recovery, E! reports she can turn to fellow cancer survivor Christina Applegate.
Applegate, who underwent double mastectomy in 2008 and is now cancer free, told E! Online, “I know what that phone call sounds like and feels like. I hope she knows that I’m here if she wants to ever talk about it.”
