HIV in porn halts more productions
A health advocacy group called for the suspension of all porn production in response to a current performer's HIV positive incident.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) President Michael Weinstein states an industry-wide closure is the correct decision to make to defend the health of adult film workers.
“All porn production should be suspended until, at a minimum, it is known who has been exposed and until that information has been disclosed to public health authorities,” said Michael Weinstein.
More than eleven companies, including Vivid Entertainment and Wicked Pictures, have already ceased production.
The HIV positive case was discovered at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, a San Fernando Valley clinic that checks pornographic actors.
Clinic officials say they are figuring out the identify and notify actors who might have worked with the HIV positive actor to carry out testing.
This latest incident fueled up the debate over the compulsory use of condoms in the adult film industry.
