Jeanne Cooper Dies: ‘Young And The Restless’ Star Passes Away At 84, To Be ‘Remembered As A Legend’
Jeanne Cooper, the actress best known as Katherine Chancellor on the popular daytime soap opera "The Young And The Restless," died Wednesday in Los Angeles at the age of 84.
The Emmy Award-winning actress is reported to have died peacefully in her sleep. Cooper's son Corbin Bernson (one of the stars of the show "Psych") indicated on his twitter page that the soap star was ill and recovering in the weeks and days leading up to her death. No cause of death has been revealed.
Cooper took the role of Chancellor in 1973 and continued acting almost until her death. Her cooky and fun character on "The Young And The Restless" became endeared to her cast mates as well as fans of the long-running soap.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cooper shot to stardom when she allowed the soap to incorporate her real-life face lift info the storyline. Cameras followed her to her surgeon's office as the results of her surgery were revealed for the first time.
